Burdon Moor with…

…no Owls in sight. Here are (quite) a few images from Burdon Moor from the end of last month.

A cracking Grasshopper Warbler posed very nicely for me.

Whitethroat were everywhere.

Willow Warbler were in nearly every bush (just a slight exaggeration).

Meadow Pipit.

Kestrel on one of the telegraph poles.

At one point it was hovering just above my car.

There were loads of Orange-tip Butterflies

Also loads of Green-veined White Butterflies.

Platycheirus species of Hoverfly.

Cheilosia pagana Hoverfly?

  1. Great shots of the Gropper Ron, top one is superb. Can't remember the last time I saw one, never mind heard one with my ageing ears unfortunately. :-(

  2. Cheers Alan. I got lucky I was trying to photograph a Whitethroat and as I went around the top of the loop the Gropper was just sitting on the fence, I couldn’t believe it. It then flew into the same bush as the Whitethroat.
