Far Pastures & Work

I have had the camera at work again so here are a few shots. There are also a few shots from Far Pastures taken a few days ago.

I’m not sure what this is but I have seen a couple at work recently.

Common Darter

A Common Darter soaking up the sun while on the side of one of the old boilers we have at work.

My first Small Copper for a couple of years.

Red Hite number H5 again at Far Pastures. It was just after tacking this shot that I dropped my new 300mm lens as I tried to put on a converter. It bounced on the road, the glass was ok but when I put it back on the camera, the image in the viewfinder bounced. It is now at Nikon for repair.

Nuthatch nice to see them again at Far Pastures.

Kibblesworth

Once again, I have dipped another Wryneck this time at Whitburn Coastal Park. I also dipped a Greenish Warbler, which was at the same place both would have been lifers. A while ago I remember someone saying to me “you should go out and find your own birds” but looking back I have found my own birds the problem now is I cant even find other peoples birds.

After a bit of bait I decided to go to Kibblesworth for Dragonflies. I‘m pleased I did because I managed to get my best flight shots so far of a few different Dragonflies. Also, saw my first Painted Lady of the year and my first Damselflies for a while. Not a bad afternoon. Sorry here are quite a few pictures I just hope I have the identification right.

Saltholme

I dipped the Wryneck at North Gare on the 21st so as I have just joined the RSPB I called in at Saltholme. I saw at least six Little Egret the same number of Godwit and a cracking Marsh Harrier so it wasn’t a complete waste of time going to Cleveland.

South Shields Little Owl

My wife had never seen a Little Owl so I thought it would be a good idea to take her to South Shields, as I knew she had a strong chance to see at least one there so that’s what we did last Sunday. As it transpired that is all we did see, one, there were four there the week before but not when my wife was there. She was still over the moon to see it. She also thought it was great to see the Fulmars flying along the cliffs and I could have spent all day taking pictures of them.
