St Mary’s Island

Thursday was the first time I have been to St Mary’s in an age and to be honest it was nearly a waste of time as it was blowing a gale. Apart from a Curlew, quite a few Ringed Plover and even more Golden Plover nothing else was on show. I left after less than an hour and went to Shibdon Ponds where once again I dipped the Godwits. Around a dozen Snipe were just outside the hide so I took some pictures and left for Far Pastures. Once again, quiet with only Moorhen, Mallard and a single Little Grebe on the pond.
