Here are some images from the last few days.

Curlew

Heron

Roe Buck (high ISO)

And another

Hare and Pheasant (again high ISO)

Only the second Blackcap to visit our garden

I heard a lot of noise from our neighbour’s garden while making a cup of coffee. I thought it was the Blackbirds squabbling among themselves. It turned out it was the Blackbirds trying to chase off a Magpie that had killed one of their fledglings.

Singing Wren

Mistle Thrush

Female Reed Bunting

Meadow Pipit

Kestrel

Grasshopper Warbler at Burdon Moor. I could hear it but it took me ages to see it.

Muggleswick

I cannot believe it’s almost a week ago since I visited Muggleswick it just seems like yesterday. While I did not use the car as a hide (as has been suggested) to take some of the images I was not close enough to the nest site to disturb the birds. I forgot about the last two images these were at work over a week ago and not Muggleswick I thought I would just add them on here because I like them.

Wood Warbler

Male Pied Flycatcher

Female Pied Flycatcher

It came so close to me at one point it almost filled the frame

Male Redstart

Long-tailed Tit

Treecreeper

Chiffchaff

Friday & Saturday

Here are (quite) a few images from the end of last week.

Wheatear eying up lunch might be a bit big though.

Having a good shake

Fluffed up after preening

Willow Warbler

Who are you looking at? It looks to have an injury to the left hand side of its breast.

It could hear another male singing nearby and it did not like it being so close.

In full song

Now that is what I call a mouthful

Mistle Thrush

Record shot of Whinchat

Did you hear the one about…? Linnets having a chat

Male Linnet

Female Linnet

My first Small White of the year taken with the 500mm lens

Friday 20 April 2018

Eagle Owl

I know it’s not on the British and Irish list and I don’t know its provenance and frankly, I don’t care to spend three hours in the presence of a magnificent bird like this in the wild was just a huge privilege.

It must have had a hard night it looks tired

Preening

All fluffed up

Would you scratch your head with claws this size?

Ready for take off

The moment you realise you have the wrong lens on your camera

I did take shots of other birds like this Meadow Pipit

And this Red Grouse
