Studley Royal

My wife and I decided to have another trip to Studley Royal to try and get to see the Red Deer rutting. We did see some of what I would call practice rutting by some of the males but not the real full-on thing that we were hoping for. I think most of the images speak for themselves so notmanywords. Once again, a couple of the images are a bit graphic so do not look if you are sensitive.

Not something you see every day.

We saw this on the way back to the car.

Studley Royal

My wife and I had a trip down to North Yorkshire at the beginning of the month to visit Studley Royal a National Trust property near Ripon. We went to see the Red Deer rut; we saw loads of Red Deer but unfortunately no rutting. It was however a great day out. FYI one of the images is a bit graphic so if you are easily offended don’t look.

Red Deer Stag.

Some stags were sniffing and tasting the air.

While others were strutting their stuff.

What have you been eating!?

Lots of bellowing but no rutting.

Kestrel.

Take off.

Nuthatch.

It was looking for insects in the bark of a tree.

The Red Deer rut……

……had not quite started when we went to Fountains Abbey at the weekend but I took some shots anyway. Weather permitting I will try again this weekend.

Red Deer Stag

This young male was sniffing and tasting the air as he could smell the stag in the picture above. He had already been chased off by this bigger stag so he left well alone.
