Weekend Wanderings Part 1

Hares were abundant at Burdon Moor yesterday (Saturday) with eight not far from the car park. Meadow Pipit and Sky Lark were in the air singing and fighting to hold onto territory. Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler were in the trees singing to proclaim their territories. A Kestrel was on the roof of the farm on the way to Lamesley (it was still there on the way back). Two Buzzards were flying over the pond just as I arrived at Lamesley. On the pond, there were Canada, Greylag and Barnacle Geese as well as Shelduck and Teal. Back in our garden a pair of Blackbirds have built a nest in one of the bushes and have been feeding young for the past few days.
