A canny early…

 …afternoon at Burdon Moor at the beginning of this month with a few birds and insects kicking around.

Male Kestrel.



This female Kestrel sat in the tree for a while… 

…before taking to the air to go hunting.



Meadow Pipit.



Male Stonechat.



This female Stonechat was nest building.


I have seen a Chiffchaff in this same area for a few years now.

Long-tailed Tit.

A few Hoverflies were patrolling their territories.





7-spot Ladybird.

Clara & Thornley

 A few images from the end of last month at Clara Vale & Thornley Woods.

The Moorhen in the background would not leave the Mandarins alone it kept chasing them all over the place.

It walked straight passed the hide without a care in the world 

Then started to clean itself.

One Heron did not like the other being there.

They had a bit of a standoff.
