Who could resist…

…going to see Barn Owls when they are practically on your doorstep. Two out hunting, male and female, a few days ago.

This male Stonechat put on a canny show while I was waiting for the Barn Owl.

Barn Owls out hunting.

A rubbish image but it’s the first time I have been able to get both in the same frame.

At least one of them caught something.

This female Kestrel kept pestering the owls.

Lamesley

After dipping the Russian White-fronted Geese on a previous visit to Lamesley Water Meadows I decided to have another try so a few days ago I went down again and this time I was lucky. I did see them from the hide but not very well as the rain was lashing down and I had to keep the side window closed and beside that they were too far away for any decent images. When the rain cleared, I went to the Oak tree and managed to see them from there.

Russian White-fronted Goose.

I am assuming this strange looking Goose is a hybrid of a Greylag and a Canada Goose, any other suggestions would be welcome.

An acrobatic Greylag Goose.

Not quite Hilda Ogden’s wall.

Curlew.

One of two Heron.

Canada Geese with the second Heron in the background.

As I said it was lashing down and this Sparrowhawk shot through and as it was so far away, I basically pointed my camera in the general direction of it never thinking I would get any images.

Male Teal.

A pair of Mallard.

A distant Kestrel on the ground presumably looking for worms.

Nearly always distant…

…and the light was rubbish it was still great to watch at least two (male and female) Barn Owls out hunting the other afternoon. Quite a few Brown Hare were in the field and I managed some rubbish shots of them too.

I think this is the male Barn Owl.

And I think this is the Female.

Buzzard being mobbed by a Crow.

It eventually shook it off.

One of at least half a dozen Brown Hare seen in the field.

This one standing on its hind legs would not turn around for me.

Once again, a “nearly” shot.

A small flock of Fieldfare were in the field opposite the carpark.
