And finally the last few shots from Mull

Mull Charters aboard the Lady Jayne with Martin and his son. One word “Brilliant”. The White Tailed Eagle came to the boat four times in the three hours we were out on the loch. It was fantastic to see such a magnificent bird so close.
A few days later and we followed this Otter for two hours while it caught crabs and other shell fish. The Common Sandpiper was on what appeared its usual perch on the way back from Croggan. Yet another couple of firsts form me in the form of Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary and Dark Green Fritillary butterflies. And finally this Golden-ringed Dragonfly was seen depositing eggs into a small stream.

More from Mull

Loch Na Keal had a pair of Golden Eagle, which gave very distant views. Then it was a walk around the bay of Craignure looking for Otters, didn’t see one but Hooded Crows were around. There were also a few Common Gull with chicks, the adult gulls attacked if you got to close so I backed off.
At Grasspoint, there were loads of Orchids and Golden-ringed Dragonfly, and a Beautiful Demoiselle Damselfly
A couple of Red Deer Stag were seen on the way to Croggan where we went looking for Otters again, and yet again none were seen however Ringed Plover were running around on the shoreline. On the way back from Croggan, we came across this Common Sandpiper calling from a tree branch. Back at the cottage, our host Geoff had this Garden Tiger Moth, which he and his son had kept from a caterpillar, for me to photograph, a nice surprise on our return.

Isle of Mull days one, two & three.

Day one saw us start our holidays in Connel just outside Oban. It was at Oban we looked for Black Guillemot. There were a few around in the bay and I managed to get some shots of them swimming around and out on the rocks. Also got our first sighting of Hooded Crow

Day two was spent in and around Craignure. Oystercatchers and Common Sandpiper were brooding eggs and rearing chicks in the bay near the cottage were we were spending our holiday.

Day three and it was White-Tailed Eagle we were after. Good but distant views were had as the eagle perched up in one of the conifer trees then took off and flew over the hillside. A Gold-ringed Dragonfly landed near the car while we were watching the eagle. It was on its last legs and looked to be bent and broken, as it never moved while I took this shot. More Oystercatchers and Common Sandpipers in the bay near our cottage.
