Finally Mull Part 7

As I said in an earlier Blog, what attracts people to Mull is the wildlife. Therefore, while I was there I was lucky enough to book a couple of trips on the Lady Jane with Mull Charters. It was one of the best experiences ever with brilliant close views of White-tailed Eagle it has got to be on your to do list if you are on Mull. Here are just a few of the images I took.

Rubbish image I know but it is the first time I have seen two White-tailed Eagles and an Otter together. I mentioned in my previous Blog that I had seen a distant Otter this is it.

Two WTE in a tree they are probably waiting for the Lady Jane to set sail, I am sure I have images of these birds taken from the boat.

While out on the boat we came across these seals with pups.

I thought I would finish this series of Blogs with a sunset taken looking across the Sound of Mull (we didn’t get many)

 

Mull Part 4

Buzzards, or as the locals like to call them “Tourist Eagles”, were sitting on posts everywhere. We had one coming into the garden of our second cottage nearly every day however; it would fly off if I tried to get close. Hen Harriers were a different matter I only saw two Ringtails during our stay but I spoke to people who had close encounters with both Male & Ringtails, luck of the draw I suppose. Hooded Crows like the Buzzards were also everywhere.

We had one hot day during the first week of our holiday and this just happened to coincide with my first sighting of a Hen Harrier. Guess what, the heat haze has ruined the image.

And finally the last few shots from Mull

Mull Charters aboard the Lady Jayne with Martin and his son. One word “Brilliant”. The White Tailed Eagle came to the boat four times in the three hours we were out on the loch. It was fantastic to see such a magnificent bird so close.
A few days later and we followed this Otter for two hours while it caught crabs and other shell fish. The Common Sandpiper was on what appeared its usual perch on the way back from Croggan. Yet another couple of firsts form me in the form of Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary and Dark Green Fritillary butterflies. And finally this Golden-ringed Dragonfly was seen depositing eggs into a small stream.
