Indigo Bunting

I had a drive over to Whitburn yesterday to see a rare visitor to our shores an Indigo Bunting. Whatever its origins it was an amazing bird to see I still can’t get over how blue it is. While I was at Whitburn, I had a look for the Red-backed Shrike which I did eventually see unfortunately the distance and the heat haze did not make for decent images.

Another visit to…

…Burdon Moor yesterday for the Red-backed Shrike. It did show a little better than it did the other day but it was still too distant to get any decent images.

This seemed to be the Red-backed Shrikes favourite perch.

It was always distant.

Unlike this Willow Warbler that was very close and posed for ages
