Far Pastures

At the end of last month, I had a look down to Far Pastures. Once again not much happening on the ponds it was the lane that produced the birds.

Willow Tit.

Female Kestrel.

There were a few Buzzards flying around.

This one sat in the tree for ages, it was still there when we left.

One of at least three Red Kites.

I have seen H5 a few times around Far Pastures.

No wing tag on this Kite.

A pair of Gadwall were on the pond.

Male Gadwall.

Coot, it’s not often you see them at Far Pastures.

Short-eared Owls

It was great to catch up with a couple of Short-eared Owls in County Durham a few days ago. With a supporting cast of Kestrel and Buzzards it was a canny afternoon out.

Kestrel waiting to go on the hunt.

It landed on a pile of gravel but didn’t seem to pick anything up.
