It was the middle of last month when a Stone-curlew turned up on Seaton Common so being a first for me I had to go down to try and see it. It had disappeared about 10 mins before I arrive and I though just my luck. I waited around for a while and then drove up to the top of the Zinc Works road in case it had relocated. Just as I was about to leave, I saw a group of birders with their scopes and bins looking at something so I drove back down the road and pulled over. The Stone-curlew was showing but it was too far away to be able to get decent images but at least I had seen it. It was chased off by a couple of Crows and that was the last I saw of it.

Lamesley
A few images from a couple of visits to the hide at Lamesley recently.
I thought at first these Redshanks were going to mate
but it turned out they were having a right old battle.
Snipe.
Buzzard, or as they used to say at the camera club “another
bird on a stick.”
Buzzard preparing to do what comes naturally.
Three, not very good images, of one Buzzard chasing
another Buzzard off.
One of the Buzzards from the previous set.
I believe, looking at the markings, this is a third
Buzzard.
Lapwing from a later visit to Lamesley.

Two no shows
I went looking for Dippers recently unfortunately I didn’t find any however I did find somethings. I then had a walk looking for Barn Owl once again I didn’t find any however once again, I did find somethings.
As I drove to the spot where I hoped to see the Dipper
a Buzzard was sitting on a telegraph pole. When I stopped the car to try and
get a shot the inevitable happened, it flew off. It did however, along with
another one, circle around the fields and I managed to fire off a few shots.
You know the feeling you get when you think you’re being
watched that’s the feeling I got when I walked through the wood to the burn. A
couple of Roe Deer were watching me through the trees.
Grey Wagtail on the burn.
Wren.
While waiting for the Barn Owls these Buzzards kept me
entertained.
Red Kite S2 with something in its talons.
A fly over Heron.
A couple of Roe Bucks.

Two Hides part two
Once again Far Pastures but this time only one bird a Water Rail. I managed to get a sequence of shots as it flew from one side of the pond to the other and here are most of those images.
