I stayed…

…local a couple of days ago and came across a Red Kite and some Ladybirds.

Red Kite enjoying the early morning sun.

The only Harlequin Ladybird I found.

However, there were quite a few Orange Ladybirds huddled together.

I also came across this small, what I assume is, a plant bug of some description.

Barn Owl

Some recent images from a very short walk from home and a relatively local Barn Owl.

One of two Redwing in our graveyard.

Grab shots of a local Red Kite with bait.

The light had been great all afternoon and just as it faded the Barn Owl came out to hunt. However, it’s still nice to see at least one is still out there hunting.

Ladybirds

29.11.23 A morning walk around our Churchyard and graveyard produced some canny Ladybirds however an afternoon walk in and around the village didn’t produce the Waxwing (and there are loads of berries on the trees) Fieldfare etc that I was hoping for.

I know they are an invasive species but I just like the colour and pattern variation on Harlequin Ladybirds.

Harlequin and Orange Ladybirds.

Orange Ladybird.

There was still a few Ladybird Pupa to be found.

Kestrel from my afternoon walk.

This big bird, an RAF plane, flew over a few times must have been out on exercise.

More Ladybirds

16.10.23 This time armed with a macro lens and tripod I went back to the graveyard to get some more images of the Ladybirds however; this time I had a walk around the churchyard too and I’m pleased I did as there were dozens of photo opportunities (as you will see).

Cream-spot Ladybird.

2-spot Ladybird.

Just some of the Ladybirds in the churchyard.

Harlequin Ladybird.

This one has something wrong with its wing case.

It was still getting around ok.

These three were having a dispute about something.

I found out it was probably an Aphid.

Ladybird and larva.

These two were also eating something but I could not make out what it was.

This too was eating something. I think the Spider was hoping to get a look in.

The Spider eventually gave up and left the Ladybird to it.

Another Ladybird with a damaged wing cover but like the other one it did not stop it getting around.

Larva.

Pupa.

Ladybird with Spider in attendance.
