You would normally…

…expect to see the supporting act before the main event and I make no exception in this case and I’m pleased I did as there would be too many images for one Blog. I thought I was going to be late to the party at South Gare but I needn’t have worried because the main event was still there when my wife and I arrived. (more in my next Blog). As I said there was a canny supporting cast (often too far away for decent images) including…

Pale Arctic Skua.

Another pale Arctic Skua.

Intermediate Arctic Skua.

And I think a juvenile Arctic Skua.

Another juvenile.

The Skuas would not leave the Terns alone they were chasing them everywhere.

Sandwich Tern doing what comes naturally (if I was being chased by a Skua I would be doing the same).

Another Sandwich Tern in fact I saw quite a few of these.

However, I only saw one Common Tern.

Looking at its shape in flight I think this image and the next one are of a Red-Throated Diver. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Cormorant coming into land.

Drying its wings after it had landed.

Razorbill.

Oystercatcher.

Mull Part 2

The vast majority of people go to the Isle of Mull to see the birds and wildlife so here are just some of the birds I saw.

Black Guillemot in Oban harbour

Pigeon again in Oban harbour

House Martin flying around the first cottage we stayed in.

I visited Lunga, part of the Treshnish Isles while on Mull and this image and the next few images are from there. Razorbill

Guillemot

Great Skua

Shag

Fulmar

Cormorant happily sitting in a fine drizzle in Aros Park near Tobermory

Gulls fighting over scraps.

Roll reversal. I think this young Sparrow was trying to get his dads attention

Long-tailed Skua

Goswick Golf Club today for the long staying Long-tailed Skua. Cracking views were had right from the off. It was on the 7th green when I arrived but flew near to the 7th tee. It then walked all the way down the fairway back to the 7th green once again giving cracking views. It was then onto the driving range where I managed a few more flight shots when it flew back to the 7th green.

It was very comfortable even when golfers were walking past

It did however seem to have a bit of a limp when walking and as you can see one leg does seem to be hanging.
