Norfolk part four

 We crossed the border into Suffolk to visit Weeting Heath National Nature Reserve to see if we could see any Stone Curlew. We did in fact there were another couple in the hide and they had counted at least sixteen, we didn’t see that many, I think the most we saw was eight however seeing only one before that was a great result. The same couple told us that the RSPB Lakenheath wasn’t far away so we had to visit there too. Suffice to say it was a long walk around the reserve for very little reward.

Stone-curlew

 It was the middle of last month when a Stone-curlew turned up on Seaton Common so being a first for me I had to go down to try and see it. It had disappeared about 10 mins before I arrive and I though just my luck. I waited around for a while and then drove up to the top of the Zinc Works road in case it had relocated. Just as I was about to leave, I saw a group of birders with their scopes and bins looking at something so I drove back down the road and pulled over. The Stone-curlew was showing but it was too far away to be able to get decent images but at least I had seen it. It was chased off by a couple of Crows and that was the last I saw of it.
