Up in the Dales

A drive up onto the Durham Dales at the beginning of the month in some sunny if blustery weather. My aim was to find Adders, which I did, and Ring Ouzel which unfortunately I didn’t however it was still a canny day out.

Durham Dales part three

The third and final part of this Blog is all about a couple of Adders we saw in two different locations. This makes it only the second and third time I have seen Adders in England and what makes it special, to me at least, is one of them was swimming.

I was taking photos of the Dipper when I saw this Adder out of the corner of my eye swimming across the stream.

It swam to the bank side then curled up below some overhanging grasses and I left it alone so I could carry on photographing the Dipper.

A different location for the second one. I was taking photos of the Stonechats when I saw it moving through the grass.

I got my images then once again left it to get some images of a Meadow Pipit.

A first for me…

…in England. I have seen a couple of Adders in Scotland but this female is my first in England.

Isle of Mull days four five & six

Went for a “Wild About Mull” wildlife tour with Bryan on day four. Got my first ever Adder and my second ever Whinchat. It was a cracking day out with loads of wildlife and flowers seen, thanks Bryan.
Next day was Iona where I manage to get some shots of a Corncrake, the scenery wasn‘t bad either. Day six we tried to go to Calgary beach but we could not get parked because around fifty bikers were taking up nearly all of the carpark. Got shots of the Sand Martins instead.
