Local Patch again

A drive around my local area again on Sunday. Meadow Pipits and Chiffchaff were showing well at Burdon Moor and the Garganey were a lot closer at Shibdon. My first Blackcap of the year was at Far Pastures as was my third Butterfly a Green-veined White.

A large dog at Far Pastures was unfortunately chasing this Roe Buck. I didn’t see anyone with this dog or hear anyone shouting to get it back so where it came from I don’t know but I hope the deer got away.

Shibdon Ponds

Couple of days at Shibdon, fist day dipped the Garganey second day managed to see them but they were at the other side of the pond displaying to the Teal. They are apparently showing well now so I will have to have another go. I think this is the first time I have seen Oystercatcher mating so I had to take pictures. Shelduck & Shoveler also on the pond are always nice to see.

Saltholme

As I said in my last blog, I paid a visit to Saltholme yesterday. However, while still at Seaton Common I had a walk around the golf course and found a pair of Stonechat and a Meadow Pipit feeding young. On the drive to Saltholme, I called in to see the seals even with the tide in there were a number of seals hauled up apparently enjoying the sun. Half a dozen Avocet were also in the creek by the walkway.

It was then on to Saltholme and the below are just some of the birds I saw while there.
