With all the controversy…

 …surrounding this, I debated whether or not to do this Blog because on the one hand it could be classed as guilt by association, the Blog after all is about a LEO from a certain site however on the other hand, one, I was nowhere near the nest (I didn’t even know where it was) two, I did not disturb the owl while it was hunting I stood in the same spot and did not chase it around (at one point the owl flew straight at me) three, and this was the clincher for me, we ALL have images of LEO’s out hunting and we may not have been aware of what’s going on while we were taking those images. I know ignorance is supposed to be no defence and I will be criticised by some, but anyway here are the images.

Long-eared Owl…

 …and an unexpected fly-by. More images of the Long-eared Owl from a few weeks ago this time taken with a shorter lens a 500mm. Unfortunately, this time the Owl didn’t hang around for long, a group of young lads were riding scrambler bikes around the area where the Owl was hunting and it got spooked. However, while I was waiting for the Owl a Marsh Harrier did a quick fly over which was a nice surprise.

The bike riders did me a favour, I suppose, because as I walked back to the car by a different path to what I normally would I found the Owl sitting on a fence post and I wouldn’t have seen it otherwise.

Late to the party

 Better late than never here are some images of a Long-eared Owl from a few weeks ago. At times the Owl was so close I clipped its wings (and the 800mm lens didn’t help) but it was great just to see it out hunting.
