At the end of last month, I had a look down to Far Pastures. Once again not much happening on the ponds it was the lane that produced the birds.

when we left.

I have seen H5 a few times around Far Pastures.

Coot, it’s not often you see them at Far Pastures.
…with the camera since my knee replacement and I thought I would go to some local hides (so I could at least sit down) namely Clara Vale, Thornley Woods and Far Pastures. The pond was frozen at Clara and there was not much to point the camera at. It was the same on the bird front at Thornley, there were a few more birds that was until a couple with their dog turned up at the side of the hide and chased everything off. It wasn’t until I got to Far Pastures that I got any images. Like Clara the pond was frozen so no birds although I did hear a Water Rail. It was the lane and car park that proved to be the most productive and the images I got were all from those two places.

The first one had landed in the trees and was calling
as the others were flying around.

This male Kestrel landed in a tree in the car park and seemed to have its eye on something.
It was watching me from the shadows.
It flew off and landed in a tree along the lane.
I’m pleased that the Willow Tits are still active.

24.03.24 An afternoon slow short stroll up to the whinny bushes to see if I could get my first images this year of Chiffchaff and I did indeed. They seemed to be in every tree and bush I passed calling and singing their heads off. There were also dozens of Gorse Shieldbugs which was a bonus however they were the only Shieldbugs I found which was a bit of a disappointment.
