Little Owl

I’m still way behind in going through all the images I take but here is our local Little Owl again.

Saturday, 6 March 2021

You might think…

…judging by my last few posts that I am obsessed, at the moment, with the Long-eared Owl and to a certain degree, you would be right. However, I do take pictures of other things like this Kestrel for instance. The light wasn’t great so high ISO on some of these images, you’ve just got to work with what you have.

Kestrel

It landed very close to me but as you can see, it was partially obscured by twigs

On the hunt

Going into a dive

Unfortunately, it failed to catch anything

I managed to get this image in fading light as I was packing up to go home

I take far…

…too many pictures. Here are some more images of the Long-eared Owl. The light was great on this particular afternoon.

The swelling on its leg hasn’t stopped it from catching prey.

It hovered briefly but did not follow up with a dive.

Nothing caught this time.
