Cragside part two

And this time it’s all about the Common Hawker Dragonfly. There were a few of these Dragonfly hawking over the tarn and I managed to get some canny shots. Unfortunately, I did not see any Damselflies this year which was a shame.

Male Common Hawker.

Male In flight.

Female Egg laying.

A pair.

More flight shots.

Female in flight.

  1. Excellent set there Ron (both posts), I have few decent photos of this species as they never seem to keep still, so to get a perched male, ovipositing female and mating pair in the same session is a bit greedy :-), and great flight shots with the variation of background lighting, the dark ones really stand out.

  2. Cheers Alan I just hit lucky while I was there and for me it's still one of the best spots to go for Dragons.
