WWT Washington Wetland Centre

First, thanks to CB for finding me in another hide then putting me onto my second ever Jack Snipe. It was then seen by a few other delighted birders. It proved to be a cracking morning out with some great birds seen including Iceland Gull and Russian White-fronted Goose among other things.

Jack Snipe.

Iceland Gull.

A couple of Lesser Black-backed Gulls took exception to it being there

And chased it off.

It soon came back.

Russian White-fronted Goose.

I saw only one Avocet while I was there.

However, I could not count the number of Shelduck, they were everywhere.

Those Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

Black-headed Gulls displaying.

Short-eared Owls

Across the border into Northumberland last month for Short-eared Owls. I saw at least five in the same area and I think I managed to get images of three or four of them.

Barn Owl & Hare

After another visit to watch Barn Owls last month I neatly got an image of boxing Brown Hare. I say nearly because you can see one Hare clearly but not the other one at this rate I will now have to wait until next year to see them again.

My nearly image of Brown Hare boxing.

One of them sitting back relaxing.

Barn Owl out hunting (I think this is the female).

Heron.

A couple of days later I went back and got this image of a Hare near the path to the carpark.
