Scotland June 2023

 16.06.23 and my first Blog from our holiday in Scotland (there will be more over time). The owner of one of the cottages (Lettoch Beag) we stay in is doing a rewilding project on his land and it is great to see so much wildlife already there. Hopefully we are still able to visit in years to come when I’m sure it will be even better. Our first day was spent around the cottage so this is some of the wildlife we saw.

Red Squirrel.

House Martin. These, along with Swallows, were nesting it the eves of the cottages.

Willow Warbler.

Twizell Woods

 A visit to Twizell Woods, in the middle of last month, to see what Dragonflies were about, the answer was not many but there is always something to photograph.

A male Broad-bodied Chaser with only three wings.

It was still able to fly about.

A female Broad-bodied Chaser ovipositing.

I think this is a species of Cuckoo Bumblebee in flight.

Just before I left for Twizell Woods Red Kite S2 was flying over the garden.

The Heron caught quite a few fish.

I don’t often see a Heron licking its lips.

Moorhen feeding its chicks.

Then admonishing one for doing something wrong.
