Beetles and Bugs

I went looking for Adders yesterday, I did see one female but unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get any pictures as I only saw it slithering it into some bracken and I lost sight of it after that. I did however see my first Tiger Beetles and Shieldbugs of the year.

Green Tiger Beetle.

Hairy Shieldbug.

Blue Shieldbug?

Heath Beetle of which there were loads.

Not sure which species of Beetle this is.

Scotland part one

07.05.22 A couple of weeks ago we had a few days in Scotland staying in a cottage in a small place called Lettoch which is just outside Pitlochry. It’s a place we have stayed in many times before and will definitely stay there again. Here is day one of our stay and all of the images were shot around the cottage.

Red Squirrel.

Buzzard.

House Sparrow.

You can just see the fly the House Sparrow is after.

A Beetle which unfortunately I can’t identify.

This plane flew down the valley at the same height as the cottage it was so close, I haven’t had to crop the image (300mm lens).

Lake District Part 1...

…and not a landscape image in site. In no particular order, here are just some of the wildlife and flowers seen in a long weekend in the Lake District.

Female Beautiful Demoiselle

Common Carpet Moth

Feathered Thorn Moth

Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary

While taking pictures of the above butterfly my wife said she had seen a large bird fly into a tree. She thought it was a Wood Pigeon and I did not even think other wise. However when the bird flew out of the tree it was not a Woody but a Tawny Owl. I managed a rubbish shot of it as it flew into a wooded area.
