Scotland part one

07.05.22 A couple of weeks ago we had a few days in Scotland staying in a cottage in a small place called Lettoch which is just outside Pitlochry. It’s a place we have stayed in many times before and will definitely stay there again. Here is day one of our stay and all of the images were shot around the cottage.

Red Squirrel.

Buzzard.

House Martin.

Swallow.

House Sparrow.

You can just see the fly the House Sparrow is after.

Green Tiger Beetle.

Mating Weevil.

A Beetle which unfortunately I can’t identify.

Large Red Damselfly.

Cranefly.

Spider,

Another Beetle I can’t identify.

Snipefly.

This plane flew down the valley at the same height as the cottage it was so close, I haven’t had to crop the image (300mm lens).

  1. You always come back with a nice selection of wildlife photos from there Ron, I reckon your green and brown beetle is a Garden Chafer (Phyllopertha horticola) a localised species, so a good find. The brownish one looks to be a leaf beetle of sorts, there are a few similar species but it most resembles the Viburnum Leaf Beetle (Pyrrhalta viburni) due to the silky appearance of the wing cases, but that species hasn't yet been recorded so far north so might be a very good find. Can't be sure though. Cheers.

  2. Cheers Alan. It’s a cracking place for the wildlife and the owners have plans to hopefully make it even better. Thanks for the ID on the beetles how on earth do you get to be so good I have looked in books and on line and I still can’t do it lol.
