Clara Vale

04.03.24 A couple of hours at Clara Vale didn’t produce the bird I was hoping for but there is nearly always something to photograph.

A small flock of Yellowhammer showed well now and again.

A couple of Long-tailed Tit were visiting the feeders.

Nice to see the Tree Sparrows back although I only saw two.

Three Hides

Clara Vale, Thornley Woods and Far Pastures were the three hides I visited about ten days ago now. No Kingfisher at Clara but a couple of Roe Deer came so close I could only get head shots. I might only have got shots of a Nuthatch at Thornley but the bacon sandwich and coffee at the visitor centre were very reasonably priced (the bacon sandwich was delicious). And there is nearly always something to photograph at Far Pastures.

A couple of Redwing showed well at Clara Vale.

As did a couple of Roe Bucks. I have seen this male before I recognise it because it has something wrong with its eye.

A second Roe Buck. There was another buck and a female however they were at the far end of the pond in the reeds and I did not get any decent shots of them.

Clara Vale

A few days ago, I had a couple of hours in the hide at Clara Vale. The pond was frozen so unfortunately no Kingfisher so then I decided to try and get an image of everything I saw (with more success with some than others). The only things I didn’t manage to get were a fly through Sparrowhawk a Magpie and a GSW.  Not a lot for a couple of hours but it’s always nice to be out.

Gateshead Hides part 1

It’s over a week ago since I visited some of the hides in the Gateshead area. Part one is Clara Vale and Thornley Woods. Here is some of the wildlife that I saw.

It’s ages since I took a photograph of a Rabbit.

Wren.

Stock Dove.

Tree Sparrow.

I came across these Red Kites on the way from Clara Vale to Thornley Woods.

Five Roe Deer were seen from the hide at Thornley. This one looks a bit tatty.

This young buck looks smart.

The third got a rump full of antler.

This older looking buck showed the others who was boss.

Then this female turned up.
