 A trip to Kibblesworth Brick Ponds at the end of last month looking for Dragonflies. Black-tailed Skimmer, Emperor and Four-spotted Chaser all put on a good show and there was a canny supporting cast of butterflies, beetles etc.

This Emperor Dragonfly flew back and forth trying to protect its patch from all threats.

However, this Four-spotted Chaser had a good go at chasing it off.

Back to being behind

 And I start with Rainton Meadows last month.

Great White Egret.

It struck

Caught a fish

And ate it.

It stood for a while 

Preened.

Then gave its self a shake.

Snipe.

The back end of the Bittern that was at Rainton Meadows for a while (this unfortunately was the best I got).

A rubbish shot of a Brown Hawker but this was the best I got.

I was looking for the Small Red-eyed Damselfly but didn’t see any so here is a Blue-tailed Damselfly.

Twizell Woods

 A walk around Twizell Woods last month produced some canny insects however, I was shocked at the lack of dragonflies, I saw only one, a Four-spotted Chaser it’s becoming quite disturbing. There were, as I said, other insects to photograph and here are some of them. Oh, and by the way if I fall down on identification, please keep me right.
