Even more of the Little Owls

I have taken hundreds of images of these Little Owls over the last week or so, so there will be a few more Blogs to view over the next few days (sorry it could be even weeks because I’m not done visiting them yet). I saw only two of the owls on this visit but I did hear the third.

One of the two sitting on a log looking for something.

The second hiding behind a log.

The first one spotted something.

Then became aware of me watching it.

A bird flew overhead spooking it.

However, it was soon back on the hunt.

The other one flew into the open.

Both together.

I’m off.

Now what do I do?

Watching something fly overhead.

Giving me the evil eye.

Something caught its eye.

And it was off.

More of the Little Owls.

A different day but the same Little Owls.

You can get tired busy sitting.

Preening each other.

On the hunt.

Wherever they are they can always find time to doze.

It looks like the Christmas Vulture from the Good Life.

Take off.

Landing (not quite sharp but hey ho)

Stretching

Before dozing.

Magpie

The scrawniest Magpie I have ever seen.

Little Owls

I am still watching the family of Little Owls so here is another instalment.

I think this is the youngster enjoying the sun

Then having a yawn.

After the yawn.

Having a stretch.

After its stretch it flew to a different part of the bush and seems to be giving me a curious look.

The parent birds preening each other.

The youngster was a tad surprised when this Magpie landed nearby.

The Magpie (you can just make it out in the foreground) then checked out the parents who did not look bothered.

The Magpie scared the young one enough for it to fly to a different bush however, the Magpie followed it and as you can see the owl still looks scared.

Meanwhile the parents kept on preening.

The young owl flew back to the original bush and again the Magpie followed. You can just make the Magpie out on the left and it looks as though the owl is trying to fend it off with its wing.

The Magpie is still on the left and I don’t know if the owl is trying to make its self look big or if it is just terrified.

The Magpie comes closer.

Closer still.

It looks directly at the owl and the owl just looks petrified.

The Magpie once again checks out the parents.

But they just keep on preening.

By now the youngster has had enough and thinks safety in numbers and joins its parents.

But they just keep on preening.

To me the look says it all.
