Images from Scotland…

…part two. We were staying not far from Pitlochry so decided to book a couple of sessions at the Loch of the Lowes. Booking has to be done in advance so I decided to book the Sunday as the BBC weather app said that this was going to be one of the better day’s weather wise. How wrong was it, we almost had four seasons in one day, wind, rain, hail with the sun pocking through at times the only thing missing was snow. Despite of the weather I still got to see what I went for, Osprey.

The male Osprey hovering.

He hovered over the lake a few times while we were there but unfortunately, he didn’t dive.

We thought he was going to land next to the female on the nest.

However, he just flew off.

This is him hovering in what was a very heavy rain shower.

The female returning to the nest after a toilet break. It’s just as well she did as she has chicks to keep dry.

The female stretching in the brief sunshine it just shows how fickle the weather was.

While the male Osprey was away, I thought I would try and get some shots of the Sand Martins and Swallows hawking over the lake. Sand Martin carrying insects.

This one looked as though it was coming into the hide.

If you look closely, you can just make out the insect the Sand Martin is after.

Sand Martin fly by.

Swallow fly past.

Another Swallow fly past.

Great Crested Grebe are nesting on the Loch and I think I am right in saying that while we were there the eggs (I don’t know how many) had just hatched.

One of the Great Crested Grebe.

The Red Squirrels were chasing each other around the feeding station near the visitor centre.
