Little Owls

Another check on the Little Owls last week and I thought I had found a family of four however I was wrong it’s a family of five. I didn’t manage to get all five together I only managed the four but it was great to see they are all doing well.

Osprey

It was cracking to see three (distant) Osprey at Derwent Reservoir a few days ago. One sat on the dried-out reservoir bed for ages. One put on a canny display, although distant, hovering however the third was just too far away for any images.

One of three Osprey.

The second.

Finally, I’ve got it but I must be the last photographer to get a picture of probably the most photographed Little Owl in the North East.

Far Pastures

Unfortunately, no Bittern or Kingfisher while I was there and I didn’t even hear the Water Rail let alone see it but it was still nice to be out.

Twizell Ponds

Another visit to Twizell Woods to visit the ponds and this time the water levels were a little higher which was great to see. Good numbers of dragonfly, damselfly and butterflies around the ponds made it a canny afternoon out.
